Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. in O'Fallon, IL seeks a full-time Building Project Engineer with 8+ years of experience for our Structural Business Unit. The role emphasizes structural design, calculations, and interdisciplinary coordination to deliver complex water/wastewater projects.

Requirements include IL/MO/AR PE licensure (Illinois SE preferred), proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit/MicroStation, and a valid driver’s license. MSCE preferred; background check and on-site site traversal are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois, Missouri, or Arkansas.
• Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois (preferred).
• Experience with structural design and detailing of water or wastewater plant structures or similar.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to traverse structural sites, including heights and rough terrain.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Follow Building Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager.
• Perform and check structural engineering calculations using company, client, and industry standards.
• Participate in the preparation and checking of structural construction drawings created by teammates to meet firm and client requirements.
• Develop and check cost estimates.
• Participate in the preparation of reports and studies.
• Assist in the management of projects.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines within the firm to assure successful completion of projects.
