Job Details:

Bridge Engineer for our Structures team. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections of in-service bridges and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. You must possess a valid NBIS Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification and an active P.E. to qualify for this role.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform detailed inspections of bridges and transportation-related structures according to NBIS and other guidelines.
2. Evaluate the condition and structural integrity of bridges, including substructures, superstructures, and related components.
3. Identify and document deficiencies, deterioration, or damage to bridge elements such as decks, beams, abutments, piers, and foundations.
4. Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and structural analysis to assess bridge performance and recommend maintenance or repairs.
5. Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings, recommendations, and solutions.
6. Collaborate with design and engineering teams on repair plans and specifications.
7. Stay updated on the latest inspection technologies and industry best practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in structural inspection, focusing on bridges.
• Valid NBIS Safety Inspection certification for in-service bridges.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within North Carolina.
• Deep knowledge of NBIS, AASHTO guidelines, and relevant regulations.
• Proficiency with bridge inspection software and tools.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and bridge types.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Leadership skills to mentor junior inspectors.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• NCDOT project experience.
• WIGINS software proficiency.
