Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Structural Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead BIM modeling efforts, develop detailed Tekla models and mentor junior designers, while ensuring design integrity across disciplines.

Office locations include multiple sites; some roles may start remotely with a plan to transition to hybrid/in-office work. A 2-year CAD degree and 10+ years of Tekla-backed structural design experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Vocational CAD training with BIM focus and 10+ years of structural design experience using Tekla.
• Ability to interpret multi-discipline documents and vendor drawings.
• Demonstrates leadership to monitor peers and coach less-experienced staff.
• Basic knowledge of current operating systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication with project teams.
• Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases and word processing tools.
• Represent Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. professionally to owners and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design group members to review and exchange information for design development.
• Check design for consistency, safety, operability and maintainability before checking.
• Report task progress to Lead Designer.
• Develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures with engineers and multiple disciplines.
• Leverage BIM to create plans, drawings and details.
• Assist in developing department standards and tools.
• Mentor other team members in design and modeling techniques.
• Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineer.
