Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Structural Designer to join our team. The role emphasizes establishing and improving design standards, BIM modeling, and collaboration with engineers across disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of structural design experience, a background in Tekla (training available), and a track record mentoring junior designers while delivering safe, cost-effective designs for power projects.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical CAD degree with BIM focus.
• 5+ years of structural design experience.
• Tekla experience preferred (training available).
• Ability to mentor junior designers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design group members to exchange project information for design and development.
• Check design for consistency, safety, operability and maintainability before submission for checking.
• Report task progress to Lead Designer.
• Develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures with engineers and multiple disciplines.
• Leverage BIM to create plans, drawings and details.
• Contribute to department standards and tools; mentor others in design techniques.
• Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineer.
