Job summary

AVCON, INC. is seeking a Structural Designer to support engineers in preparing construction documents using Autodesk Revit and BIM tools. You will produce accurate, coordinated structural drawings and collaborate with consultants to resolve issues for projects such as public facilities, commercial buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in structural engineering drafting and design support.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (structural focus) required.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
• Understanding of BIM coordination processes (clash detection, model collaboration).
• Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D BIM models for structural systems including concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
• Develop and refine structural drawings, plans, sections, and details in coordination with engineers.
• Update plans and models based on redlines and design revisions, taking ownership and coordinating with engineers.
• Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, mechanical, and civil models to resolve conflicts and support coordination.
• Assemble drawing packages for permitting, bidding, and construction.
• Ensure adherence to CAD/BIM standards and templates.
• Organize drawing files, maintain version control, and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Participate in internal quality control reviews to reduce errors across drawings.
• Maintain current knowledge of design and drafting procedures in the specialty field.
• Nights and weekends rarely required but may occur with short notice.
