Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer (Level2) for the Vehicle Engineering Directorate, Western Region Engineering. This onsite role is based in Redondo Beach, California, with relocation assistance and ~10% travel.

A Top Secret clearance or SCI access is required at start. You will analyze metallic, non‑metallic, and composite structures for space systems, develop FEA models, and contribute to design reviews with customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of engineering experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with 6 months of engineering experience.
  • Experience with finite‑element analysis tools (FEMAP, NASTRAN).
  • Experience sizing metallic and composite structures.
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance that can be obtained before start.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, research, and develop structural‑engineering specifications for metallic, non‑metallic, and composite materials used in space‑sector products.
  • Evaluate stiffness, strength, durability, and design allowables; create structural models.
  • Specialize in dynamics and loads (sine, random vibration, acoustic, shock), composite structures, bonded‑joint analysis, stability, static stress, and fatigue.
  • Develop detailed procedures for metallic and composite structural analyses; evaluate fittings, fasteners, joints, and splices.
  • Apply acoustics and vibration expertise; plan structural‑integrity testing; create design criteria.
  • Assess stability, crippling, and durability; perform finite‑element modeling at system and subsystem levels.
  • Conduct layout sizing and structural‑integrity evaluations.
  • Review material, system, and subsystem requirements.
  • Create FEA models and perform system‑ and subsystem‑level structural analyses.
  • Participate in internal and external (customer) design reviews.

Position Overview

Structural Analysis Engineer (Level2) – Vehicle Engineering Directorate, Western Region Engineering. Onsite in RedondoBeach, California. Relocation assistance may be available. Travel required at approximately 10% of the time.

Security and Clearance

Clearance required: Top Secret. Must possess current SCI access or obtain Top Secret clearance prior to the start date.

  • Apply acoustics and vibration expertise; plan structural‑integrity testing; create design criteria.
  • Assess stability, crippling, and durability; perform finite‑element modeling at system and subsystem levels.

  • Create FEA models and perform system‑ and subsystem‑level structural analyses.

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs.
  • Participation in multiple design cycles on spacecraft or aircraft development programs.
  • Active SCI access with current polygraph.
