Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems invites applications for a Structural Analysis Engineer or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer based in Palmdale, CA. The position will be assigned to a 1st shift 4/10 (Monday-Thursday) or 9/80 schedule.

Core Responsibilities
- Analyze, research and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design and operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronics, power plant, armament, heating, ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs.
- Analyze damage tolerance and durability of metal and composite airframe structures.
- Perform MRB Stress Analysis in a high-paced production environment, providing stress MRB dispositions for primary and secondary structure.
- Review completed analyses, drawings and repairs for accuracy, clarity and completeness.
- Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
- Present and explain structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
- Maintain and improve part designs, equipment and systems in support of production deliveries.
- Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical and consistent with program objectives.
- Evaluate as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures and specifications.
- Document structural analysis methods, including hand-sheet analysis and manipulation of large finite element models.
Qualifications
- Basic Structural Analysis Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with no years of experience.
- Principal Structural Analysis Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or PhD with no experience.
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (in-scope within 6 years) and ability to obtain Program Special Access.
- Experience in bonded composite structural analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
- Familiarity with NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP and use of NX CAD, Femap, Nastran, and other software.
- Experience working on Special Access Programs and military aircraft.
- Current in-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
- Experience performing Damage Assessment and Determination (DADT) analysis and MRB role experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of aerospace structural analysis experience.
- Experience with NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.
- Experience on Special Access Programs and military aircraft.
Compensation and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00. The above ranges are general guidelines; actual offers are based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for senior positions, long-term incentives.
