Northrop Grumman Space Sector seeks a Principal/Sr. Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering. Responsibilities include evaluating stiffness/strength, durability, design allowables, creating structural models, and conducting finite‑element modeling. Areas of specialization may encompass dynamics and loads (sine, random vibration, acoustic, shock), composite structures, bonded‑joint analysis, stability, static stress, fatigue.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, research, and develop structural‑engineering specifications for metallic, non‑metallic, and composite materials used in space‑sector products.
• Perform metallic and composite structural analyses, develop detailed procedures, evaluate fittings/fasteners/joints/splices.
• Apply acoustics/vibration expertise, plan structural‑integrity testing, create design criteria, assess stability and durability.
• Create FEA models and perform system‑ and subsystem‑level structural analyses.
• Participate and present in internal and external design reviews.
• Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining focus on project goals.

Basic Qualifications

• Level 3 (Principal) candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years experience, Master’s with 3+ years, or Ph.D. with 1+ year, and experience with FEMAP/NASTRAN and sizing metallic/composite structures. Must have active SCI access or TopSecret clearance with ability to obtain SCI.
• Level 4 (Sr. Principal) candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8+ years experience, Master’s with 6+ years, or Ph.D. with 4+ years, same experience requirements, and active SCI or TopSecret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on Special Access Programs.
• Participation in multiple design cycles on spacecraft or aircraft development.
• Active SCI access with current polygraph.

Salary

Primary Level: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00

Secondary Level: $142,200.00 – $213,400.00
