Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join our diverse team in Palmdale, CA. This position is for the 2nd shift with a 4/10 (Monday - Thursday) work schedule. The primary role involves conducting structural MRB stress analysis in a fast‑paced production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct stress analysis for primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • Analyze damage tolerance and durability of metal and composite airframe structures.
  • Perform random vibration analysis using tools such as FEMAP, Nastran, Catia, NX, and other software applications.
  • Review completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines during the design development process.
  • Present and explain structural issues and solutions clearly to internal management and customers.
  • Maintain and improve part designs, equipment, and systems to support production deliveries.
  • Develop comprehensive and practical solutions to complex problems that align with program objectives.
  • Evaluate as‑built products for compliance with standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Utilize structural analysis methods and documentation, including hand‑sheet analysis and manipulation of large finite element models.
Essential Functions

Perform stress analysis for primary and secondary structures, review completed analyses, collaborate with other disciplines, present and explain structural issues and solutions, maintain part designs, develop solutions to complex problems, evaluate as‑built products, and utilize both hand‑sheet analysis and large finite element models.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with at least 2 years of relevant experience;
  • or a Master’s degree in STEM with no years of experience.
  • For the Principal Structural Analysis Engineer level: Bachelor’s in STEM with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with no experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with Special Access Programs.
  • Familiarity with PATRAN or FEMAP.
  • Experience working on military aircraft.
  • Knowledge of MIL‑STD regulations as they pertain to aerospace structures.
Clearance and Travel

This position requires a current in‑scope (within 6 years) DOD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Salary & Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
