Job summary

Quanex Building Products Corp. is seeking a Strip Mill Operator on 2nd shift in Ohio to blend and process compounds through the mill and batch-off within specifications. You’ll operate machinery, monitor quality, and support a dynamic, team-centered culture.

The role requires 1+ year manufacturing experience, a High School diploma or GED, and willingness to work overtime including weekends. Forklift experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maintain quality control by monitoring production output.
• Identify issues with the product or process.
• Cut rubber stock off the mill and feed onto the take-off belt.
• Lift rubber strip(s) 2 to 20 inches wide back onto the mill band.
• Communicate with team members and assist in maintaining processing procedures.
• Fill out safety checklists and applicable paperwork.
• Keep work area clean and operate a forklift for designated tasks.

What Success Looks Like:

• Strong mechanical aptitude.


• Necessity for attention to detail.


• The ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.


• Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.


• Ability to identify any issues with the product or process.


• Job requires the operator to cut the rubber stock off the mill and to be able to lift it back up to band on the mill


• Must be able to pull a rubber strip(s) approximately 2 to 20 inches wide, from the mill and feed it onto the take-off belt located approximately three feet away


• This job is on a two to five-minute cycle


• Requires the operator to communicate with the additional staff members


• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned


• Fill out two-roll safety checklist


• Assist in establishing and maintaining compound processing procedures


• Fill out any applicable paperwork


• Cut samples for QA testing


• Clean grease pans weekly


• Keep work area clean


• Lifting


• Following all safety procedures and guidelines along with assisting in modifying and updating procedures


• Operating a forklift for various functions.

Your Credentials:

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment


• High School or GED preferred


• Willing to work overtime including weekends


• Knowledge of general computer skills.

The hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and/or 3rd shift.

2nd Shift 2:45pm-11:00pm
