Job summary

The City of Tigard is seeking a Municipal Street Maintenance Worker to perform construction, maintenance, and repair work on city streets and drainage systems in Oregon's Portland metro area.

You will operate street maintenance equipment, install and repair traffic signs, locate underground utilities, read blueprints, and troubleshoot issues while adhering to safety standards; a Class A CDL, First Aid, and CPR are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of related experience in construction, repair, or maintenance of streets and utilities.
  • Possession of a valid Class A (CDL) commercial driver's license with endorsements.
  • Ability to pass a physical capacities test.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction, modification, maintenance, and repair work on streets, operate specialized maintenance and repair equipment related to the area of assignment, set up and operate traffic area construction zones, including cones, barricades, and flagging.
  • Locate underground utilities by use of blue prints and electronic locating equipment in accordance with appropriate regulations, depending on assignment.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance problems and determine materials and supplies required for repair.
  • Make accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
