Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled Working Crew Leader to lead a crew performing street and storm sewer construction, maintenance and repair. You will plan, supervise and coordinate daily tasks under general supervision, ensuring quality and safety.

The role requires at least high school completion and 3 years in public works with leadership experience, plus a Florida driver license. CDL may be required for some assignments; benefits include strong city programs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and three years of experience in public works construction, maintenance and repair.
• One year of supervising or leading semi-skilled to skilled workers is required or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• CDL license may be required depending on assignment; valid Florida driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Leads, plans, and coordinates the work of a crew performing street and storm sewer construction, maintenance and repair activities.
• Inspects project work for compliance with plans and safety regulations.
• Estimates and orders materials for major construction projects.
• Ensure safety procedures on work sites and supervise subordinates.
• Prepare records and reports, and assist in performance reviews.
