Job summary

The Town of Brookline Department of Public Works – Highway and Sanitation Division seeks a dependable Street Sweeper Operator for the overnight shift. You will operate sweepers, perform maintenance, and support snow/ice responses to keep streets safe and clean through the night.

Applicants should have a High School diploma, 1–2 years of experience with heavy equipment, MA CDL Class B, and a Hoisting Engineer’s License. Night shifts offer a competitive hourly rate with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years experience operating heavy trucks/equipment; experience with sweepers preferred.
• Valid Massachusetts CDL, Class B required.
• Valid MA Hoisting Engineer’s License required.
• Must maintain safety and be able to work independently overnight.

Responsibilities

• Operate street sweepers to clean town streets and roadways during overnight hours.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections of the street sweeper and related equipment.
• Assist with other roadway and sanitation-related tasks as needed.
• Support emergency operations, including snow and ice response, as required.
• Maintain accurate logs of work performed and equipment usage.
