Job summary

The City of Long Beach seeks a skilled traffic markings worker to apply pavement markings, install signs, and set safety barriers on streets and curbs using conventional and airless type systems.

Requires two years of spray and brush painting experience, ability to read work orders and engineering plans, lift up to 75 pounds, and comply with the safety and DOT anti-drug program; weekend/holiday/on-call availability may be required; Class B driver license with airbrake endorsement may be needed

Qualifications

• Two years of paid, full-time experience in spray and brush painting of streets, curb markings and legends.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and engineering plans.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must comply with the Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program as required by the Department of Transportation.

Responsibilities

• Apply spray and brush pavement markings on streets and curbs.
• Post and maintain traffic regulatory, warning and guide signs.
• Plan work and place barriers to minimize traffic interference.
• Observe safety regulations and maintain equipment.
• May train and oversee subordinates and use company vehicles.
