Job summary

The City of Beaumont is seeking a hands-on supervisor to lead a small crew in laying out streets for pavement markings. You will operate thermo-plastic and striping machines to paint crosswalks and stop lines, install traffic buttons or reflectors, and assist in sign maintenance.

This position requires on-site work and safe transport of workers and equipment. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in traffic markings or related maintenance; supervisory

Job description

Essential Job Functions: Serves as working leader for a small crew engaged in the layout of streets for marking; operates thermo-plastic machines, striping machines, and other pavement marking equipment; paints traffic markings, crosswalks, stop lines, and installs traffic buttons or reflectors; assists in sign maintenance and installations; may confer with citizens on sign installations; inspects city for substandard markings or signage; keeps records of sign installation; services vehicle and is responsible for the safe transporting of workers and equipment to job site; ensures the maintenance, cleaning, and servicing of all assigned equipment.

This position requires 100% on-site work. Works inside and outside in all types of weather; may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and traffic hazards. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and work overtime or extended hours when necessary.

Knowledge: Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment, and techniques commonly used in the placement of traffic markings and materials; knowledge of codes and regulations for sign installation; knowledge of safety hazards and precautions applicable to work.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to layout and supervise the work of subordinates, unskilled and semi-skilled employees; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions as well as blueprints, diagrams, and sketches; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, and the public.

Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently walks, bends, stands, crawls, lifts, drags, pulls, and pushes; lifts objects weighing up to 100 lbs.

Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required. One (1) year experience in traffic markings or related maintenance required; supervisory experience preferred.

This position requires 100% on-site work. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid driver's license equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
