Job summary

The City of Pasadena, CA Public Works Department is seeking a proactive Maintenance Worker II to perform semi-skilled traffic striping, painting, and regulatory sign maintenance within the Street Maintenance Division. Responsibilities include crosswalk painting, curb markings, and installation of traffic-related street markings and signs.

Emphasis is on safety, quality workmanship, and dependable teamwork. The ideal candidate will have experience in traffic signage and traffic paint striping,

Qualifications

• One year of full-time maintenance and construction experience in at least two of the following functions: sewer and storm drain maintenance; parks or Rose Bowl maintenance; street maintenance or street cleaning; solid waste collection; traffic painting and signs; streetlights and traffic signals; or street trees.
• Prior full-time work experience in traffic striping/painting and regulatory sign maintenance is highly desirable and will be factored into the initial screening.
• Experience to include knowledge of a forklift and poinjar rock/hammer drill or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and work orders.
• IMSA Certifications in Signs and Paints and Traffic Control are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of street painting work, including the painting of crosswalks, curbs, street markings, and installation of raised pavement markers.
• Airless paint sprayers and drives light equipment; maintains tools inventory, records, and equipment in good working order, including airless and air paint sprayers, paint striper, hydraulic paint spray truck, and forklift.
• Complies with and enforces operating and safety procedures.
