Job summary

The City of Sandpoint seeks a Street Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the Street Department's maintenance, repair, and construction operations, including paving, snow removal, and storm drain management. You will supervise Equipment Operators and coordinate with the Public Works Director to plan and allocate resources.

The role requires strong knowledge of street construction methods, safety protocols, and state regulations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required; college degree preferred.
• 7+ years experience in street construction, repair, and maintenance.
• 3+ years experience operating light and heavy equipment.
• 2+ years supervisory experience.
• Must possess a valid Class A Idaho CDL with Tanker and Hazardous Materials endorsements and must be insurable.
• Must be able to respond to emergencies within 30 minutes.
• Shall maintain certification as a traffic control supervisor.
• Shall maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of MUTCD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and construction operations of the Street Department, including paving, sealing, snow removal, and storm drain systems.
• Assists crews on-site by operating equipment when necessary.
• Establishes priorities, makes daily work assignments, and supervises crews to ensure task completion.
• Prepares work schedules and coordinates activities of reporting staff to ensure supplies, equipment, and personnel are available.
• Supervises, trains, schedules, assigns duties, and disciplines full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees in cooperation with HR.
