Job summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to support street maintenance and city projects. You will operate backhoe, mower, dump truck, front end loader, skid steer, and salt spreaders, and service related equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Texas driver license, and CDL within one year of hire. The role requires physical fitness, on-call availability, and the ability to perform field repairs

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment such as backhoes, loaders, and trucks.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to be on-call on a rotating basis and respond to weather-related operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoe (less than 5 feet), mower, dump truck, front end loader, skid steer, salt spreaders and other construction equipment of comparable size and complexity.
• Maintain and service equipment and trucks;
• Operate mechanical attachments and equipment on vehicles;
• Operate pickups and other light equipment when assigned;
• Perform related duties as directed.
