Job summary

The City of Lubbock seeks an experienced equipment operator to service and operate heavy municipal machinery including rear loaders, side loaders, grapple trucks, roll-off trucks and automated side loaders for solid waste collection.

You will perform preventive maintenance, drive and operate trucks, and assist with related duties in residential and commercial collection settings. A valid CDL is required within one year of hire; preferred certifications and licenses are noted in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years experience operating motorized construction equipment.
• CDL required within one year of hire.
• HAZWOPER certification preferred.
• TCEQ MSW Waste Screening preferred.
• Texas Commercial Class B or Class A Driver's License; Physical Exam required.

Responsibilities

• Operate rear loader, side loader, grapple truck, roll-off trucks, and automated side loader for solid waste collection.
• Maintain and service equipment and trucks.
• Operate pickups and other light equipment when assigned.
• Perform related duties as directed.
