Job summary

The City of Omaha, NE is hiring an Automotive Equipment Operator I for Street Maintenance/Admin to operate light trucks and related equipment. The role includes manual labor, basic repairs, and reporting duties, with lead worker responsibilities as needed.

Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience with trucks or construction equipment. Licenses required: CDL B/A with N endorsement, Hoisting Certificate, and flagger certification by probation end.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year operating trucks/construction equipment.
• Must hold valid driver’s license and Class B or A CDL with N endorsement by end of probation.
• Must have 2nd Grade Hoisting and Portable Engineer’s Certificate; flagger cert by end of probation.
• Forklift cert if assigned to Park Maintenance, Forestry, or Impound Lot.

Responsibilities

• Operate single-axle trucks and related equipment.
• Inspect fluids, perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Submit reports of work completed.
• Snow removal, de-icing, and may install tire chains.
• Maintain regular attendance as scheduled.
• Additional duties as assigned; lead worker duties.
• Division-specific: street maintenance tasks like filling cavities and patching.
