Job summary

The City of Omaha is seeking a skilled Automotive Maintenance Worker to service and repair municipal vehicles and equipment. The role requires assisting mechanics, performing preventive maintenance, and maintaining accurate computerized records and logs.

Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, 6 months of automotive servicing experience (ASE may substitute), valid Class A permit and later CDL with N endorsement and air brake certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months automotive servicing experience; ASE may substitute for general experience.
• Authorized to substitute ASE certification for general experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Assist mechanics with equipment repairs.
• Inspect vehicles for servicing needs and prepare records.
• Make service calls to return equipment to service.
• Maintain and organize parts and tools; order as needed.
