Job summary

The City of Fairhope is seeking an experienced crew leader for Streets and Facilities Maintenance to direct daily road, sidewalk, and drainage projects. You will lead crews, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with the supervisor on planning and safety.

Must have 3+ years in sidewalk/concrete work and street repair, a valid Alabama driver's license, and be able to pass a background check and drug screen. CDL may be required; on-call availability is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in sidewalk construction and maintenance, concrete projects, and street repair.
• Possess a current and valid Alabama Driver’s License; must be insurable.
• May be required to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Ability to work on-call rotation, overtime, weekends, or emergencies as needed.
• Ability to travel throughout City to perform job functions.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Equipment maintenance: perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, inspect regularly, and report status.
• Department operations and manual labor: conduct road/ROW repairs, concrete work, and ensure proper signage.
• Crew leader duties: receive assignments, direct workers, coach, and ensure safety standards.
• Street maintenance and repair: oversee pothole fixes, curbs, sidewalks, drainage, and pipe installations.
• Support in planning projects, training, safety briefings, and coordination with supervisor.
