Job summary

The City of Fairhope is seeking an experienced Crew Leader for Streets and Facilities Maintenance to direct crews in road and sidewalk repair, equipment maintenance, and drainage work. The role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and safety compliance on active work sites.

You will train new employees, manage project tasks, and coordinate materials while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to city policies. This is a hands-on, safety-sensitive position that may require CDL access.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years in sidewalk construction/maintenance and street repair.
• Possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License; insurable.
• May require Class A CDL.
• Must be able to work on-call, overtime, weekends or emergencies; travel as needed.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Directs assigned crews on daily work assignments for street/asphalt repair, sidewalk construction and drainage maintenance.
• Perform equipment inspections, report failures, assist with repairs.
• Plan, schedule, assign personnel, and procure materials for projects; train new employees as crew leader.
• Oversee road/ROW repairs, curb and sidewalk construction, and drainage systems; ensure safety standards.
• Operate and oversee heavy equipment to maintain city streets and drainage; supervise site work and equipment usage.
