Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a mid-career Stream Restoration Engineer to support projects across Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, Greenville, and Johnson City. The role blends planning, design, and construction support for ecosystem restoration and river/wetland projects with a hybrid schedule across listed offices.

The candidate should have 5+ years in river restoration, strong GIS and modeling skills, and be prepared for client interaction and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of consulting experience in river restoration, wetlands, or related natural resources work.
• Experience planning and conducting field and desktop data collection for engineering projects to restore streams and wetlands.
• Experience producing mitigation plans or banking instruments with agency coordination (USACE).
• Strong experience with fluvial geomorphology assessments and remote sensing GIS toolsets.

Responsibilities

• Direct multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Perform and oversee detailed geomorphic, sediment transport, biological, soil, hydrologic, and hydraulic studies.
• Apply CWA mitigation regs and SOPs for stream/wetland banks.
• Lead field investigations and provide construction support.
• Develop construction documents and technical specs.
• Use 1D–3D hydrologic, sediment transport, and morphodynamic models.
• Interact with client representatives and manage project scope.
• Support business development and staff mentorship.
• Publish findings and present at industry conferences.
