Job description

Source Forward is a commercial real estate energy advisory firm that helps building owners identify, finance, and implement energy efficiency and infrastructure projects. We work with commercial real estate owners, developers, institutions, and property managers throughout the Northeast to maximize utility incentives and deliver complex capital improvement projects.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Business Operations Analyst to work closely with our leadership team and help build the research, systems, and processes that allow our business to scale.

The Role

This role sits at the intersection of research, operations, project execution, and business development. Your mission is to help our leadership team make better decisions, move projects forward, identify new opportunities, and build the systems that enable Source Forward to scale.

You'll research new markets and utility incentive programs, support active energy and infrastructure projects, help manage incentive applications, improve internal processes, and take ownership of analytical and operational initiatives across the business.

This is not a narrowly defined back-office role. You\'ll be expected to understand how the business works, identify problems and opportunities, and increasingly own initiatives as you develop.

The right person is resourceful, highly organized, intellectually curious, and comfortable taking ownership of unfamiliar problems. You\'ll do well here if you enjoy learning quickly, solving problems, and finding practical ways to move things forward.

Responsibilities
  • Research utility incentive programs, new markets, industry trends, commercial real estate owners, and prospective clients to identify new opportunities.
  • Support utility incentive and rebate administration, including applications, documentation, submission tracking, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Help move active energy efficiency and infrastructure projects forward by coordinating across clients, contractors, utilities, and internal teams.
  • Develop proposals, presentations, analyses, and other client-facing materials.
  • Maintain CRM data and improve Salesforce processes, reporting, and workflows.
  • Work directly with leadership on research, operational projects, business development initiatives, and market expansion.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in research, operations, consulting, commercial real estate, energy, business development, sales operations, or another analytical role.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable tackling unfamiliar or ambiguous problems and independently determining how to approach them.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
What We're Looking For

We\'re looking for someone who is smart, resourceful, organized, and eager to learn. You don\'t need to come in knowing the real estate, energy efficiency or utility incentive industry—we\'ll teach you that. What matters more is your ability to learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions, conduct rigorous research, communicate clearly, and turn ambiguous problems into actionable answers.

You'll work closely with company leadership and gain firsthand exposure to commercial real estate, energy infrastructure, utility incentive programs, business development, and company strategy. As you develop, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly important projects and areas of the business.

The people who thrive at Source Forward are dependable, proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated by continuous learning. We're looking for someone who wants responsibility, enjoys figuring things out, and is excited by the opportunity to help build a growing company.

  • $70,000–$90,000 base salary, depending on experience.
  • Performance bonus opportunity.
  • Professional development and career growth.
  • Direct exposure to company leadership and high-impact business decisions.
  • Meaningful responsibility and opportunity to take on greater ownership as the company grows.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment.
Why Join Source Forward?

Source Forward operates at the intersection of commercial real estate, energy infrastructure, and a rapidly evolving market for building decarbonization.

You'll join a growing company at an early stage, work directly with leadership, and gain hands-on experience across strategy, operations, project execution, and business development. You'll contribute to real projects from day one, see firsthand how a business is built and scaled, and have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility as the company grows.

For someone who is ambitious, curious, and wants to learn quickly, this is an opportunity to build a broad skill set while having a direct impact on the growth of the business.
