Abode Money is seeking a Strategy & Finance Lead to work directly with the CEO in Austin. You will tackle the hardest open strategic or financial questions, build models, and present recommendations.

You’ll stand up new lines of business, own the budget and KPIs, manage outsourced finance operations, and engage in board and investor material. This role requires 8+ years in consulting, banking, or similar analytical work, plus startup operating experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in consulting, banking, or similar analytical roles.
• Experience building budgets, KPI packs, and financial models.
• Ability to participate in CEO, board, and investor discussions with data-driven insights.
• Willingness to work in-person in Austin five days a week and handle regulatory detail.

The Role

We're hiring a Strategy & Finance Lead to work directly with the CEO. Your job is to take the hardest open strategic or financial question on the list and come back with a model, a recommendation, or a business.

You'll stand up new lines of business like a nationwide insurance brokerage, own CFO+ work like the budget and KPIs, and sit in board and investor conversations. The people who do this well go on to start something or run a function somewhere serious.

What You’ll Do

• Answer the Hardest Questions: Take the hardest unowned question on the list, model it out, and come back with a recommendation and a plan.

• Stand Up New Initiatives: Launch new lines of business from zero, run them until they're real, and hand them to a permanent owner.

• Own Finance Operations: Manage our outsourced controller, build the budget, and track actuals against projections.

• Manage Legal and Regulatory: Work with counsel on contracts, licensing, county and state relationships, and partner compliance diligence.

• Work Directly with the CEO: Operate as an extension of the CEO on whatever matters most that week, including board and investor material.

Who You Are

• In Austin or willing to relocate. We work in person 5 days a week.

• 8+ years of experience, with time in consulting, banking, or a similar analytical seat, plus operating experience at a startup

• Build and own a model, a budget, and a KPI pack yourself, using AI to move faster

• Reach for the data before the opinion and get to a defensible answer fast

• Are comfortable in legal and regulatory detail and know when to push

• Want to be a founder or run something of your own

Compensation

$150,000 – $200,000 base, plus equity
