Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Vice President of Total Rewards to lead the evolution of compensation, equity, benefits and career frameworks, aligning with our talent strategy and 3-Year Plan. You will translate data and financial modeling into strategic recommendations for executives and the Board.

Qualifications

• Total Rewards Expertise: Expert knowledge of total rewards including broad-based compensation, executive compensation, equity programs, and benefits strategy.
• Strategy & Vision: Forward-looking mindset to anticipate shifts in market, business, and talent strategy.
• Board & Comp Committee Partnership: Experience working with a Compensation Committee and Board and co-piloting with another leader.
• Financial & Strategic Acumen: Deep understanding of compensation economics, job architecture, and market pricing methodologies.
• Executive Presence & Communication: Ability to present complex material to senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
• Change Leadership: Experience navigating organizational transitions and ambiguity.
• Operational Rigor: Structured, analytical, detail-oriented, with strong governance and controls.

Responsibilities

• Evolve Total Rewards for the Future of Work and translate strategy into annual priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Partner on Executive Compensation & Board Governance: co-pilot on strategy and materials for the Compensation Committee and Board.
• Architect the Benefits Strategy: multi-year roadmap including design, funding, wellness, and employee experience.
• Ensure Pay Equity & Governance Excellence: lead annual pay equity analyses and scalable governance across all programs.
• Enable Leaders & Empower AppFolians: empower leaders with clear communication and tools for pay decisions.
• Build and Develop a High-Performing Team: lead Compensation, Benefits, and Executive & Equity teams; coach senior leaders.
• Partner Across AppFolio: collaborate with Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition, HRBPs, and People Operations.
