Job summary

University of Chicago’s College Academic Advising Office seeks an academic adviser to support undergraduates across all years and majors. You will guide course selection, curricular planning, and progress toward degree while connecting students to campus resources and opportunities.

You will meet individually with students, mentor them through transitions, and collaborate with campus partners to maintain a supportive, inclusive advising environment.

Qualifications

• College or university degree required.
• 2–5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Master’s degree preferred with a 5-year gap between graduation and appointment.

Responsibilities

• Supports undergraduate student progress on academic programs across all years and areas of study.
• Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with students to discuss academic programs, major choice, and progress.
• Assists with summer orientation and course planning for Autumn Quarter.
• Uses counseling and relational skills to assist distressed students and maintains relationships with a diverse student population.
• Maintains advising caseload using University databases and records notes on student interactions.
