Job summary

Concordia University Chicago seeks an Academic Advisor to guide undergraduate students in exploring and planning their academic and vocational goals within a Christ-Centered environment. The role reports to the Director of Academic Advising and is based in River Forest, IL.

You will meet with freshmen, transfers, and undeclared students to plan courses, discuss career options, and ensure degree progress. Collaboration with faculty and staff is essential to promote student success and

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in student services is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Advising, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Curriculum & Instruction or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with new freshmen, transfer, and undeclared students to plan and register for courses.
• Advise on career decision making, transferability of coursework, deadlines, and degree requirements.
• Assist students in utilizing resources for academic support, counseling, and student activities.
• Develop strategies to support students with program deficiencies and monitor Navigate cases.
• Update program plans for each term and communicate with students and faculty as needed.
• Organize mailings/electronic communications using university systems and tools.
• Contribute to policy committees and share updates with advisors.
• Deliver presentations on academic requirements and resources throughout the year.
• Assist in planning events and projects led by the advising office.
