Job summary

Sound Transit seeks a Tribal Relations Program Director to serve as the agency's primary liaison with Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest Tribes. You will guide policy, leadership, and government-to-government engagement across programs, projects, and operations.

Responsibilities include developing engagement strategies, coordinating with executive leadership, and building durable partnerships with tribal leaders and stakeholders to advance mutual goals while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or related field is required.
  • Eight years of related experience including tribal governments knowledge.
  • Experience with public infrastructure and federal transit is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Sound Transit’s primary liaison to Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest Tribal Governments.
  • Develop and maintain tribal engagement strategies and protocols.
  • Collaborate with CEO and ELT on policy direction regarding tribal affairs.
  • Coordinate training and education on tribal engagement practices.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for executive leadership and boards.
