The Town of Stonington is hiring a Town Planner to oversee planning, organize development activities, and provide technical support to the Land Use and Development Department. You will review land development proposals, coordinate with departments, and communicate with the public and developers to advance town planning goals.

The role requires independent judgment, initiative, and supervisory skills, with a Bachelor's in planning and several years of experience; AICP is desirable and a valid

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban, Regional or Community Planning with focused coursework in Land Use Planning and three years of professional experience preferred.
• Master’s Degree may substitute for two years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• AICP certification is desirable.
• A valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.

Aufgaben

• Plan, organize, direct and participate in activities of the Land Use and Development Department.
• Provide technical support to land use regulatory agencies, boards and commissions.
• Review and make recommendations on land development proposals (commercial/office, residential, etc.).
• Conduct site inspections for proposed subdivisions and developments; coordinate reviews with other departments.
• Consult with town officials, attorneys, builders and the public to resolve conflicts and support planning goals.
