Job summary

The Town of Newport in Central Maine is seeking a Town Manager to provide administrative leadership for a community of 3,200 residents and a multi-million dollar budget. You will guide departments, oversee budgeting, grant administration, and personnel management, while reporting to the Board of Selectmen.

Candidates should have five years of progressively responsible public administration experience and a bachelor’s degree preferred; knowledge of Trio/Harris software is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in public administration.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Maintains administrative organization and efficient operation of the Town.
• Oversees accounting, budgeting, and work programs for the Town.
• Directly involved in hiring, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining employees.
• Identifies service and policy needs and communicates recommendations to the Selectboard.
• Public relations liaison with citizens, media, and governmental entities.
• Coordinates departmental activities and oversees bidding on major purchases.
• Prepares federal/state grant requests and administers grant programs.
