Job summary

City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking an advanced IT leader to guide technology initiatives within the Public Safety Division, focusing on project management, application administration or technology support in a collaborative team setting.

The role leads a team of IT professionals, coordinates with vendors and departments, and develops deployment schedules, cost‑benefit analyses and workflows to improve information systems and public safety operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Five or more years of experience planning and managing technology projects or systems.
• Additional qualifying coursework may substitute on a year-for-year basis for required experience or education.
• Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of information technology professionals and participates in hiring decisions.
• Works with division manager on planning and strategic initiatives.
• Develops, implements and maintains a department-wide project management framework and reporting process.
• Develops cost-benefit analyses and statements.
• Makes recommendations for improvements in information systems methodologies and procedures.
• Develops, documents and implements workflows and procedures.
• Coordinates with outside vendors and City customers to ensure IT initiatives are completed.
• Develops deployment schedules and assigns resources for technology projects.
• Coordinates response to technology incidents and provides after-hours support.
• Develops end-user training plans.
