Job summary

Gulf Island in Houma, LA, seeks a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement for generator enclosures in a metal fabrication setting. You will acquire raw materials, fabricated components, and electrical assemblies to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Project Management, manage supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of purchasing/procurement leadership in manufacturing.
• Experience purchasing materials for metal fabrication, industrial equipment, or enclosures.
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and fabrication specs.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing software.

Responsibilities

• Manage all purchasing activities for generator enclosure manufacturing operations.
• Procure materials and components based on engineering blueprints, BOMs, fabrication drawings, and production schedules.
• Source and purchase: sheet metal, structural steel, electrical subcomponents, fasteners, paints, and consumables.
• Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and supply agreements to meet cost and performance targets.
• Monitor supplier quality and on-time delivery; manage inventory levels and resolve shortages or discrepancies.
• Develop sourcing strategies to mitigate disruptions and optimize costs.
