Job summary

J.B. Hunt is seeking a Vice President of Taxation to lead the company’s tax strategy, oversee planning, compliance, reporting and risk management.

This executive will work with senior leadership to optimize the effective tax rate within regulatory bounds while supporting growth and operational excellence. The role requires 15+ years of progressive tax experience, a CPA, and strong leadership and communication skills to distill complex tax concepts for executives and the Board.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive tax experience in large public company or Big 4.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• Deep knowledge of federal and state/local SALT regulations and solid understanding of US GAAP.
• Strong leadership, communication and strategic thinking with ability to distill complex tax concepts for non-tax executives and the Board of Directors.
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis for tax planning.
• Proven track record of leading teams through organizational growth or digital transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax strategy and oversee planning, compliance, reporting and risk management.
• Oversee tax provision processes and regulatory disclosures, ensuring SOX controls.
• Mentor and develop the tax team; modernize operations with automation and data analytics.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, treasury to optimize tax positions and forecasting.
• Drive process improvements and manage outside advisors.
