Job summary

Cavender’s seeks a strategic Head of Tax to lead the tax function across compliance, reporting, planning, and process development. You will own federal partnership tax and multi-state filings, build scalable controls, and partner with Finance, Legal, and Operations to support growth.

The ideal candidate brings CPA, 10+ years in tax leadership within multi-entity environments, and a proven ability to translate complex tax matters into actionable guidance for senior leadership and auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA required, MBA or advanced tax certification strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive tax experience in a complex multi-entity or multi-state environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a tax function while remaining actively involved in tax compliance and execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead federal partnership tax compliance, including returns, K-1s, extensions, estimated payments, and related matters.
• Own multi-state tax compliance across jurisdictions including state income and franchise taxes.
• Manage tax calendar, filing workflow, and supporting documentation to ensure deadlines and payments are timely.
• Develop and maintain tax processes, controls, policies, and documentation for accuracy and scalability.
• Identify improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
• Provide tax leadership and planning aligned with growth initiatives and organizational structure.
• Advise finance leadership on tax implications of entity structure and expansion.
• Coordinate with external advisors and auditors on ASC 740 matters and tax provision processes.
