Job summary

Generalist is building its talent team and hiring leaders who can shape the recruiting engine across research, ML, hardware, and data operations. This role focuses on thoughtful talent strategy and mapping candidate ecosystems, beyond volume.

As an early member of the talent team, you will lead priority searches, define processes, and partner closely with hiring managers to attract top technical peers for our San Francisco and Boston campuses.

Qualifications

• 5+ years full-cycle technical recruiting.
• Track record of closing senior technical hires with competing offers.
• Real passive-sourcing depth in new domains.
• Data fluency with funnel analytics and ATS reporting.
• Working, current use of AI tooling with good judgment on its limits.
• Exceptional written communication for outreach and briefs.
• Genuine technical curiosity and ability to read research abstracts.
• Strong relationship management under pressure with candidates, managers and agencies.
• Based in San Francisco or Boston, in person.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end search strategy: intake, sourcing, screening, loop design, closing, onboarding handoffs.
• Proactively map target domains to expand the candidate ecosystem.
• Conduct highly personalized outreach through publications, conferences, repositories, and referrals.
• Integrate modern tooling and AI to enhance research and workflow while ensuring accuracy.
• Track pipeline metrics and channel effectiveness to guide hiring decisions.
• Partner with hiring managers on scoping, calibration, interviews, and debriefs.
• Engage candidates with the mission, technical scope, and team density to attract top talent.
• Maintain clean data and structured interviewing practices within Ashby for efficiency.
• Collaborate with external agencies as needed to augment internal sourcing.
• Support in-person hiring across San Francisco and Boston with site visits when required.
