Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Medical Director of Student Health Services to provide system-level physician leadership for MUSC Health’s statewide partnerships with universities and colleges. The role blends clinical oversight with strategic responsibility to ensure accessible, evidence-based student-centered care across on-campus and virtual models.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school; board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, or related specialty.
• Active or eligible South Carolina licensure.
• Minimum of 5 years post-residency clinical experience with leadership in student health or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute MUSC Health’s statewide student health strategy.
• Lead growth and evolution of partnerships with higher education institutions across South Carolina.
• Provide clinical oversight for student primary care, reproductive and sexual health, behavioral health, and sports medicine services.
• Monitor access, utilization, quality, and satisfaction metrics across student health programs.
• Recruit, mentor, and support physicians, APPs, counselors, and allied health professionals.
• Represent Student Health to campus leadership and engage students to strengthen trust and care experience.
