Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Supply Planning Manager to oversee supply management across categories and lead a team of planners. You will align mid-to-long term plans with manufacturing and working capital needs, balancing demand, capacity and inventory to optimize efficiency.

You will guide master scheduling, product replenishment and inventory strategies across the distribution network, driving KPIs and collaborating with partners to mitigate risks and improve continuity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership is required.
• Experience handling highly complex networks within supply planning, inventory control, logistics management and/or manufacturing production.
• Experience with Advance Planning Systems (Logility/JDA/APO/etc.) is required.
• Strong communications skills (oral and written) with stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Project management & process improvement mindset/experiences.
• Hands-on experience with modeling, analysis & simulation tools.
• Ability to multitask and deal with ambiguity.
• Experience with SAP and related supply chain applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure master scheduling, product replenishment, and inventory management metrics are met.
• Identify action items, marshal resources, and follow up on supply planning issues.
• Oversee and optimize inventory levels at distribution centers and plants.
• Manage factors to achieve the targeted customer order fill rate of 98.5%.
• Drive initiatives to reduce inventory alert levels and distress sales.
• Lead the enforcement and use of capacity planning models.
• Support marketing and sales with capacity planning for new business simulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align inventory with strategy.
• Identify future capacity constraints and address with resources.
• Engage with demand management, manufacturing, quality, warehousing, and transportation teams to resolve issues.
• Oversee escalation and contingency planning protocols.
• Drive a positive employee experience through leadership and coaching.
