Job summary

Smithfield Foods, based in Virginia, is seeking a Materials Planner to drive master scheduling, inventory management, and strategic sourcing to balance internal and external procurement while meeting KPIs.

You will oversee the STO lifecycle, coordinate with facilities and suppliers to align production with sales, and optimize stocking policies and production schedules to support efficient, cost-effective operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of supply chain/planning experience.
Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; able to translate data into actionable insights.
Ability to perform under pressure with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Effective collaboration with all levels of management and cross-functional teams.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

Scheduling, Inventory, and Supply Planning: ensure master scheduling, replenishment, and metrics are met; manage STO lifecycle.
Raw Materials and Supplier Coordination: balance internal/external procurement and coordinate with suppliers for timing and quantities.
Capacity Planning and Production Optimization: enforce capacity planning models and guide resource allocation.
Collaboration and Issue Resolution: work with partners to resolve shortages and communicate solutions to leadership.
