Job summary

Commercial Metals in Texas is seeking a production planning professional to manage short- and long-term demand, develop detailed production plans, and support S&OP processes across multiple EAF steel mills in the northeast US. You will partner with Demand Planning and logistics teams to ensure aligned supply and customer service goals.

The role requires experience in manufacturing, SAP analytics, strong communication, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment preferred.
• Experience with SAP business or functional analytics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• MS Office proficiency with emphasis on Advanced Excel.
• Ability to lead through influence and trusted collaboration rather than through authority.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Review short-term and long-term demand for steel products and create detailed production plans to meet that demand.
• Partner with Demand Planning to understand forecast changes and demand variability.
• Participate in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
• Prepare supply planning inputs, capacity analysis, and inventory projections for S&OP reviews.
• Identify risks and opportunities impacting supply, inventory, service, or cost performance.
• Recommend corrective actions to align supply plans with business objectives.
• Analyze root causes of supply disruptions and inventory issues.
• Maintain 26-week detailed production schedule for multiple Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel mills in the northeast US.
• Coordinate with operations teams in mills and ensure efficient production sequencing.
• Work with schedulers to facilitate weekly production meetings with operations, logistics, and sales teams.
• Provide forward looking analysis to adjust production to prevent over/under production.
• Maintain data for production speeds / capacity.
• Create and manage replenishment plans between mills and warehouse depots to support customer service objectives.
