Job summary

Actalent in Decatur, IL seeks a detail-oriented Supply Chain Engineer to support purchasing, sourcing, supplier management, and material planning in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will drive operational efficiency through data-driven decisions and collaboration across Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, and Procurement teams.

The role focuses on maintaining material availability, optimizing inventory, and supporting cost and delivery improvements, while working hands-on

Qualifications

• Experience in supply chain or purchasing within a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Proficiency in purchase order creation and requisition processing.
• Hands-on experience with supplier and vendor management, including delivery, pricing, and sourcing.
• Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and its application to inventory and production planning.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and create purchase orders to support production.
• Partner with Master Planners to manage material availability, outsourcing requirements, blanket purchase orders, and VMI programs.
• Monitor and support MRP activities to maintain proper inventory levels and readiness.
• Collaborate with suppliers on delivery schedules, inventory concerns, pricing, and sourcing.
• Support customer proposals by providing accurate pricing information and supplier recommendations.
• Maintain and support supply chain systems, tools, and processes to ensure data integrity and operational effectiveness.
• Identify opportunities to improve supply chain performance, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
• Assist in resolving supply chain disruptions through data analysis and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Partner with Logistics, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Procurement teams to ensure smooth material flow.
• Gain hands-on experience across purchasing, supply chain, logistics, and supplier management.
• Develop expertise in MRP, inventory management, sourcing, and procurement processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements that create measurable value within the supply chain.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment by sharing ideas and problem-solving.
