Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Supply Base Development Engineer to identify gaps, vet new suppliers, and improve supplier performance. You will work with Procurement, Supplier Management, and Engineering to ensure capability, quality, and cost targets are met, enabling production readiness and continuous improvement across the supply base.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in supplier management and quality, with experience in PPAP, GD&T, and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
• 4+ years of supplier management, procurement, supply chain, or changeover experience.
• 4+ years supplier quality experience, including PPAP, root cause & corrective actions at the supplier.
• Reading drawings/prints; basic GD&T understanding.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Procurement, Engineering, and Operations to identify gaps in the supply base and develop capable suppliers.
• Collaborate with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to define performance specs and supplier metrics.
• Develop and execute project strategies for critical parts based on risk rankings.
• Lead suppliers in problem solving and risk mitigation; establish schedules to hit milestones.
• Industrialize new materials/processes with supplier collaboration and scale-up.
• Support Long Range Production Plan with DTNA Product Roadmap insights.
