Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a Supply Base Development Engineer to identify gaps in the supplier base and vet new suppliers to improve delivery, quality and reduce total supplier driven cost. You will collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Product Strategy and Operations to align with the DTNA roadmap.

The role requires developing strategies for critical parts, leading supplier projects, and traveling up to 50% (including international).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
• 4+ years of supplier management, procurement, supply chain, or changeover experience
• 4+ years supplier quality experience including PPAP, root cause & corrective actions at the supplier
• Experience with reading drawings/prints including basic GD&T
• Experience with DTNA Book of Business and Supplier Requirements
• Negotiation skills, structured problem solving, project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Procurement / Engineering and Operations to anticipate gaps in the Supply Base and develop quality suppliers capable of OEM production.
• Collaborate with Product Strategy and Engineering Platform Management on manufacturing processes and optimization.
• Develop supplier base to achieve best overall cost, quality, manufacturability and self-reliance.
• Lead supplier projects with risk-based strategies and defined KPI milestones.
• Work with suppliers to develop schedules to meet vehicle milestones and KPIs.
• Guide suppliers in problem solving and consensus building to mitigate risks.
