Job summary

Siemens is offering the Strategic Student Program for co-ops and interns in Spring 2027. The program targets undergraduates with strong coding skills across C, C++, Java, JavaScript, and Python, aiming to solve real-world problems within our Technology & Innovation teams.

Participants will collaborate with senior engineers on cutting-edge software concepts, with potential for full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong coding skills in C, C++, JAVA, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Upper classman preferred with co-op experience to demonstrate hands-on work.
  • Candidate must be proactive, able to set timelines, work independently, and learn quickly.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, class and inheritance, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior design engineers to develop, modify, and implement software programs.
  • Research and develop innovative algorithms to solve business challenges.
  • Create documentation from independent research findings, including white papers.
  • Push the limits of Siemens software portfolios to expand business into new areas.
  • Co-ops may be assigned to cutting-edge software concepts and explore integration into the Siemens Software portfolio.

Technology & Innovation

Our Technology & Innovation office (T&I) is responsible for high-tech, innovative research and design. T&I provides shared platform, architecture, innovation, and development services. Project assignments in this organization vary greatly depending on the business needs. At times, students may:

  • Partner with senior design engineers to develop, modify, and implement software programs
  • Research and develop innovative algorithms to confront business challenges
  • Create documentation from independent research findings, including white papers
  • Push the limits of our current software portfolios to expand our business into new areas
  • Students who co-op with this team are typically assigned to a cutting-edge software concept, and are responsible for researching how this concept could be incorporated into the Siemens Software portfolio
    • Research topics have included: Knowledge Graphs, Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI/Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, etc.
Organization Requirements
  • Studying for a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong coding skills in C, C++, JAVA, JavaScript, or Python
  • Upper classman is preferred (with prior co-op experience)
  • Student must be proactive, capable of setting their own timelines, able to work independently, and disciplined
  • Rapidly learn new development languages and coding techniques
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming is a must
  • Understand the concept of class and inheritance
  • Sharp and tenacious trouble shooting skills
  • Unwaveringly passionate about solving technical challenges
  • Creative, fast learner
  • Independent thinker and self-motivated researcher
  • Adaptable to new tasks with little lead time

The hourly range for this position is $18.00 to $50.00. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location, as well as degree type and relevant education.
