Job summary

Siemens Digital Industries Software is seeking a Manufacturing Planning & Simulation Strategic Intern in the United States. You will work with senior architects and development engineers on AI-enabled software techniques, focusing on PLM in manufacturing planning and simulation.

The program includes mentorship, workshops, and potential full-time offers after graduation. You will contribute to a research and development environment and present progress to leadership and early-stage startups.

Qualifications

  • Be able to learn in a self-paced manner.
  • MS Office & IDEs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio Studio, VS Code).
  • Awareness of AI concepts, LLM prompting, Copilots and knowledge databases.
  • Python, C++, JavaScript programming experience.
  • PowerShell and Bash scripting is a plus.
  • Team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to handle complex scenarios.
  • Engineering student (junior or senior).

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with Siemens PLM in Manufacturing Planning and Simulation.
  • Help create a research and development environment.
  • Assist in defining and developing agentic tools.

As a Manufacturing Planning & Simulation Strategic Intern you will be working with Senior Architects and Development Engineers in the Siemens Digital Industries Software Division. The development program will offer valuable insight into manufacturing software techniques using AI and other tools to deliver product capabilities to the market.

Responsibilities:
  • Familiarize yourself with Siemens Product Lifecycle Management enterprise solutions in Manufacturing Planning and Simulation

  • Help create a research and development environment.

  • Assist in defining and developing agentic tools.

  • Create Prompts for identified services that can feed into LLM.

  • Showcase the results to management team and startups across the Manufacturing Planning and Simulation to drive the S/W roadmap.

Qualifications/Characteristics:
  • Be able to learn in a self-paced manner.

  • Competent with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio Studio and Visual Code

  • Awareness and Knowledge of AI and Agentic AI concepts in particular Large Language Models Prompting MCP interfaces for skills RAG concepts Copilots and knowledge databases

  • Proficient in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, C++ and Java Scripts – proven coding experience

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell Bash Scripting is a plus.

  • Work effectively in a Team environment.

  • Be able to analyze complex scenarios and have critical thinking skills.

  • A Junior or a Senior, pursuing a degree in Engineering.

The hourly range for this position is $18.00 to $50.00. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location, as well as degree type and relevant education.
