Carlton Staffing Group in Splendora, TX is seeking a Steel Procurement / Purchasing Manager to develop strategic sourcing solutions and ensure material availability for ongoing projects.

The role demands an outside-the-box thinker with a strong network of steel mills, service centers, and suppliers, plus proven negotiation and forecasting skills. On-site role with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply-chain experience in steel fabrication or related industries.
• Significant steel purchasing experience with knowledge of grades and industrial materials.
• Established network with domestic and international steel mills, service centers, distributors.
• International sourcing experience and overseas supplier relationships preferred.
• Ability to think creatively to source hard-to-find materials when traditional suppliers cannot meet needs.
• Understanding of steel markets, pricing, lead times, freight, tariffs, and supply-chain risks.
• Experience identifying alternative sources, material substitutions, and supplier programs.
• Ability to negotiate pricing, delivery, terms, and supplier agreements.
• Review drawings, BOMs, specs, and certifications to ensure material compliance.
• Strong Excel, analytical, and communication skills; ERP exposure.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic sourcing solutions to control material costs and bottlenecks.
• Ensure steel and related materials are available to keep projects moving.
• Leverage industry network to source hard-to-find materials.
• Negotiate favorable terms and supplier agreements.
• Monitor market trends, lead times, and risks to mitigate supply-chain issues.
• Collaborate with production/engineering on BOM reviews and specs.
