Job summary

Schuff Steel Co. in Humble, TX seeks a Director of Steel Procurement to lead the purchasing group for steel and related commodities across production, operations, field, sales, estimating and accounting.

You will build a strong team, develop policies, and foster vendor relationships to reduce overall cost. Responsibilities include market pricing, procurement strategy, mill buys planning, schedule coordination, compliance with Buy America rules, and leadership of a procurement staff to deliver

Qualifications

• Ten (10) or more years of related experience as a Purchasing Manager or above in steel fabrication or construction manufacturing.
• Thorough knowledge of purchasing, logistics and procurement principles.
• Familiarity with LEED, EPD and sustainability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides direction and leadership of the steel procurement group.
• Develops sourcing strategies to manage steel price volatility.
• Plans mill buys and lead times with production scheduling.
• Ensures compliance with Buy America and domestic content requirements.
• Manages vendor contracts and cost control.
• Leads procurement team and coordinates with accounting and Legal.
