Job summary

College of American Pathologists (CAP) in Washington, DC seeks a Manager, State Government Affairs to lead CAP's state advocacy program, track legislation, and develop policy positions in collaboration with the Director of Legislation and Political Action.

You will manage legislative research, coordinate with state pathology societies and medical societies, oversee lobbying contracts, and help communicate health policy to CAP members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Four years of experience in state government relations or equivalent work experience.
• More than two years of operational management of a government relations program or health care issue advocacy.
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the Washington, DC office and meet in office Requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operational conduct of the CAP’s state affairs advocacy program and advocacy execution.
• Serve as a SME on public policy issues and CAP’s state advocacy program.
• Manage state legislative and issue research, state law research, and tracking.
• Coordinate with state pathology societies, CAP committees, and external stakeholders to support CAP’s state advocacy program.
• Maintain lobbying contracts, payment coordination, and compliance with lobbying laws.
• Prepare correspondence and communications in support of the state affairs program.
• Provide ongoing public policy information sharing with state pathology societies.
• Communicate health policy updates to CAP members and participate in CAP-wide activities.
