Job summary

General Fasteners in Livonia, MI is seeking a Commodity Specialist to manage sourcing, supplier relations, and purchasing. The role focuses on maintaining a robust supply chain, optimizing pricing, and collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Accounting, Operations, and Sales to meet client needs.

The ideal candidate has experience with ERP systems (Epicor Prophet 21) and IQS, plus strong analytical and negotiation skills. Monday–Friday schedule with travel to suppliers is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
• Purchasing experience with domestic and international suppliers.
• Experience in the Fastener Industry is a plus.
• Ability to gather information, analyze data, prepare, and lead negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company’s supply chain by sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing commodities.
• Implement pricing strategies to establish the best market-wide price.
• Evaluate market conditions to mitigate risks.
• Understand product offerings from suppliers.
• Improve inventory strategies to reduce costs and increase turns.
• Implement supplier rebate programs.
• Negotiate payment terms and assist with invoice concerns.
• Build strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Conduct quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers to drive improvements.
• Identify suppliers for gap purchases.
• Support Quality with customer/supplier concerns.
